The Foundation makes grants to organizations that serve communities within the Oconomowoc school district, including the towns of Ixonia, Dousman and Nashotah. It is not necessary that the organization be physically located within these communities, but that it can demonstrate it provides services to the residents of these communities.
The priorities for support from the Fund are:
Programs for children and youth, particularly teens;
Services to the elderly, particularly those with limited access to community services;
Arts and cultural programs;
Programs providing support services for persons facing life-threatening conditions or for the families of such persons;
Programs that preserve the environment through reduction of pollution, conservation or restoration of natural areas, education or protection of wildlife;
Applying for grants from the Oconomowoc Area Foundation does not in any way disqualify charitable organizations for applying for other Greater Milwaukee Foundation grants.
OAF 2020 Grant Cycles #1 and #2:
The Oconomowoc Area Foundation (OAF) had opened a second round of funding in 2020..
This grant cycle was open to all nonprofits serving the greater Oconomowoc area to help fund requests related to:
• Operational Support
• Special Projects
Because of the generosity of our donors' contributions to The OAF's general endowment fund, The OAF was able to fulfill $167,000 in requests during our first grant cycle in March 2020. Later in the year, we opened up a second cycle and gave an additional $110,000 to area nonprofits - allowing us to fund $277,000 to area nonprofits directed at Covid and Sustaining Support needs during 2020.
